ATP Nightmare Before Christmas Festival

This year in Minehead, UK, All Tomorrow’s Parties is hosting Nightmare Before Christmas, a festival curated by none other than The Melvins and Mike Patton.

The festival starts on Friday, December 5th and goes through Sunday the 7th. The lineup, (at least for my tastes), is awesome.

The Melvins, Fantomas, Isis, Squarepusher, Butthole Surfers, Big Business, Dalek, The Black Heart Procession, Mastodon, The Damned, The Meat Puppets, Os Mutantes, Joe Lally and Monotonix are all bands I would love to see, especially on one bill.

The only problem with the festival is that a lot of fans here in the states aren’t going to be able to make it. As soon as this event occurs and other sites start to get some coverage up I will try and compile it here.

Buzz Osborne Interview with Gibson.com

 Buzz Osborne Peace

Gibson.com has a great, brand-new interview with Buzz Osborne of The Melvins up at their site. In this interview Buzz Osborne discusses, among other things, the recording of The Melvins new album “Nude With Boots” and his thoughts on music in general.

One thing I thought was very interesting about the interview is that he mentions using Fender guitars in places on the new album. Buzz Osborne is usually associated with Les Paul Customs, as many Melvins fans know. Excerpt…

I used my ’69 Les Paul on the whole album supported by a Silvertone, Telecaster, and an early ’90s reissue Mustang.”

The Melvins Tour & Interview

Buzz Osborne

The Melvins are gearing up to tour this summer, in support of their new Ipecac Records album “Nude With Boots.” The band is once again paired with Big Business for the album and tour and they will also open each show on the tour separately.

I came across a pretty good interview with Buzz Osborne, lead singer/guitarist and songwriter of The Melvins. In it, he discusses some of his influences when making “Nude With Boots” and his general view of the band’s recorded output and history.

You can check it out here…
