Jack White & Alicia Keys “Another Way To Die” Music Video

A while ago we posted about a song Jack White wrote for the new James Bond movie “Quantum of Solace.” This wasn’t a big deal to people, the fact that Coca-Cola (a sponsor of the movie) began using the song in ads, really pissed people off though.

Now, as well as doing an instrumental score for the film, Jack White and Alicia Keys have appeared in a video together for “Another Way To Die” a promotional song for the movie. Stereogum has the video up at their site, for your viewing pleasure. You’d be hard pressed to find something in the video that isn’t CG, but whatever, its for a James Bond movie. As for the song, well it’s kind of blah.

This is dangerous territory though, I remember back when Chris Cornell did a song for a James Bond movie. That didn’t really turn out too good, and now the former bad-ass frontman of Soundgarden is doing R&B tracks with Timbaland and coaching American Idol contestants. Makes you wonder how long before Jack White goes down this route, maybe he already is. At least he’s rocking a guitar in the video…

Jack White Denies Control Over Use of ‘Quantam’ Song In Coca-Cola Ad

A lot of buzz has been spreading about Coca-Cola’s new ad using a song that Jack White wrote for the upcoming James Bond film, Quantum of Solace. Some sites bash White for selling out and others claim he is responsible for Coke’s “creative commerical yet.” Nevertheless, he denies having any involvement with the song’s use in the commercial, which “features an instrumental score from the film [Quantum of Solace] composed by Jack White.”

White’s management issued the following statement for the musician:
“Jack White was commissioned by Sony Pictures to write a theme song for the James Bond film ‘Quantum Of Solace’, not for Coca Cola,” the statement says. “Any other use of the song is based on decisions made by others, not by Jack White….We are disappointed that you first heard the song in a co-promotion for Coke Zero, rather than in its entirety.”

The film’s release date will be November 14 in the U.S. and October 31 in the UK. In the meantime, check out the trailer here.
